About
Liz Martin
Liz Martin is a designer and art director based in Arlington, VA.
Throughout her career, Liz has used her skills across multiple platforms and disciplines; from building and managing websites to designing and creating a range of print materials and in support of those online projects. Whatever the task, she focuses on applying evergreen concepts of design and clarity of communication.
Liz's greatest strength is being able to dive in and contribute in many different ways on a wide variety of projects, both practically and conceptually, like a Swiss army knife of design and organization.
Outside of work, Liz’s creative energy often shifts toward projects that are resolutely offline: embroidery, fiber art, drawing, and other hands-on pursuits that emphasize slowness, texture, and a connection to memory. These works are small, tactile, and reflective—an antidote to the fast-paced, digital world of her day job. For Liz, these quiet acts of making offer a way to revisit personal history and internal landscapes, and explore the comforts of solitude. Many of these works find joy in the shared language of American art: movies, television, music, and the endless rabbit holes of pop culture that offer their own kind of creative refuge.
Liz holds degrees in Graphic Design from the Corcoran School of Art + Design in Washington, DC (now part of George Washington University) and American Studies from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. She originally hails from New England where she was born a seventh generation Vermonter. She does not care particularly for maple syrup, but when she has it, she insists on the good stuff.
When not working or art-ing, Liz also takes her dog on weekend adventures in the company of her husband, Will.
